The method, explained
Estimated minutes = whitespace-separated word count ÷ words per minute. Display seconds rounded up so a nonempty passage is not shown as zero seconds.
A 600-word article at 200 words per minute takes approximately 3 minutes.
What to keep in mind
Reading speed varies by person, subject and purpose. Whitespace word counting is unsuitable for languages without spaces; images and tables add unmodeled time.
