How to use this tool

  1. Enter solute mass, molar mass, final solution volume.
  2. Select Calculate to view the result.
  3. Check the method and assumptions below before using the result.

The method, explained

Moles = mass ÷ molar mass. Molarity = moles ÷ (final solution volume in mL ÷ 1,000).

A WORKED EXAMPLE

Using solute mass = 5.844 g, molar mass = 58.44 g/mol, final solution volume = 500 mL, the result is 0.2 mol/L. Change these example inputs to match your task; use the method above to check each step.

Understanding your result

No. Molarity uses liters of solution. Molality uses kilograms of solvent; the denominators describe different measurements.

What to keep in mind

Use final solution volume, not the starting solvent volume. Solute purity and temperature-driven volume changes are not modeled. Educational calculation only; use validated procedures for laboratory work.

Common questions

Is molarity the same as molality?

No. Molarity uses liters of solution. Molality uses kilograms of solvent; the denominators describe different measurements.

Are my inputs uploaded?
