How to use this tool

  1. Enter amount of substance.
  2. Select Calculate to view the result.
  3. Check the method and assumptions below before using the result.

The method, explained

Entity count = amount in moles × 6.02214076 × 10^23. The Avogadro constant is exact in the SI definition of the mole.

A WORKED EXAMPLE

Using amount of substance = 1 mol, the result is 6.02214076e+23 entities. Change these example inputs to match your task; use the method above to check each step.

Understanding your result

It counts whichever entities your amount refers to. For atoms within molecules, multiply by the number of those atoms in one molecule.

What to keep in mind

Specify what is being counted. One mole of water molecules contains three moles of atoms in total. Educational calculation only; use validated procedures for laboratory work.
