How to use this tool
- Enter area to cover, brick length, brick height, mortar joint, waste allowance.
- Select Calculate to view the result.
- Check the method and assumptions below before using the result.
The method, explained
Bricks = ceil[area × 10⁶/((brick length + joint)(brick height + joint)) × (1 + waste/100)].
Using area to cover = 20 m², brick length = 215 mm, brick height = 65 mm, mortar joint = 10 mm, waste allowance = 10 %, the result is 1304 bricks. Change these example inputs to match your task; use the method above to check each step.
What to keep in mind
One visible layer only; bonds, corners and structural wall thickness are excluded. A material-quantity estimate, not a structural design or building-code check. Confirm site measurements, supplier coverage and waste before ordering.
Common questions
Which inputs does this calculation need?
Estimate facing bricks from wall area, brick face and mortar joint. Enter area to cover in m², brick length in mm, brick height in mm, mortar joint in mm, waste allowance in %. The filled example is editable and is not a saved personal record.
How should I interpret the result?
One visible layer only; bonds, corners and structural wall thickness are excluded. A material-quantity estimate, not a structural design or building-code check. Confirm site measurements, supplier coverage and waste before ordering.
