How to use this tool
- Enter package price, quantity in the package.
- Select Calculate to view the result.
- Check the method and assumptions below before using the result.
The method, explained
Unit price = package price ÷ quantity. Repeat with another package after converting its quantity into the same unit.
A 3 kg package priced at 12 costs 4 per kg. A 500 g package must first be expressed as 0.5 kg for a per-kg comparison.
What to keep in mind
Quantity must be positive. The result does not compare product quality, waste, shipping or promotions unless those costs are included.
Common questions
Can I compare different package sizes?
Yes, provided the quantity uses the same unit for both calculations.
Does a lower unit price always save money?
Not if the larger package causes waste or adds costs not included in the price.
