How to use this tool

  1. Enter solute mass, total solution mass.
  2. Select Calculate to view the result.
  3. Check the method and assumptions below before using the result.

The method, explained

Mass percent (w/w) = solute mass ÷ total solution mass × 100.

A WORKED EXAMPLE

Using solute mass = 10 g, total solution mass = 200 g, the result is 5 % w/w. Change these example inputs to match your task; use the method above to check each step.

Understanding your result

Yes. If you have 10 g solute and 190 g solvent, enter 200 g total solution to obtain 5% w/w.

What to keep in mind

This is mass/mass concentration, not mass/volume or volume/volume percent. Educational calculation only; use validated procedures for laboratory work.
