Your result

Let’s calculate.

Use the Calculate button to see your result.

Review the method below for assumptions and conventions.

How to use this tool

  1. Enter slab length, slab width, edge cover, maximum grid spacing.
  2. Select Calculate to view the result.
  3. Check the method and assumptions below before using the result.

The method, explained

Subtract twice cover from each dimension. Bars parallel to length = ceiling(clear width/spacing)+1; reverse dimensions for the other direction.

A WORKED EXAMPLE

Using slab length = 6 m, slab width = 4 m, edge cover = 50 mm, maximum grid spacing = 200 mm, the result is 244.8 m. Change these example inputs to match your task; use the method above to check each step.

Understanding your result

Single layer without laps, bends, hooks or extra edge reinforcement. Spacing and cover are user inputs, not design recommendations.

What to keep in mind

Single layer without laps, bends, hooks or extra edge reinforcement. Spacing and cover are user inputs, not design recommendations. A material-quantity estimate, not a structural design or building-code check. Confirm site measurements, supplier coverage and waste before ordering.

Common questions

How do I use this rebar grid quantity calculator?

Count bars in two directions for a rectangular single-layer grid. Enter slab length in m, slab width in m, edge cover in mm, maximum grid spacing in mm. The starting example is editable; use values for the same system or project.

Which assumptions affect this result?

Single layer without laps, bends, hooks or extra edge reinforcement. Spacing and cover are user inputs, not design recommendations.
